The Goathead Warriors battle was launched on the riverfront trail system in 2016 and expanded to Wenatchee and East Wenatchee in 2017 and 2018. While the seeds can survive 7+ years before sprouting, after three seasons it is increasingly hard to find goathead plants on many stretches of the riverfront trail system. In Wenatchee and East Wenatchee neighborhoods we are making step-by-step progress toward reducing and eventually eliminating infestations.

The key to winning is having a volunteer Warrior committed to patrolling each neighborhood and each section of the riverfront trail. Every Warrior is issued three weapons: a goathead shovel, gloves and 3 mil plastic bags. Ten hours of patrol earns an official Goathead Warriors camouflage hat.
