Background
GoatheadWarriors.org is a volunteer non-profit organization based in Wenatchee, Washington. The initiative was launched in 2016 with sponsorship by The Complete the Loop Coalition and WenatcheeOutdoors.org. GoatheadWarriors applied for 501(c)3 status with the IRS in 2019.
Our core strategy is volunteers committing to create a “goathead free zone” on a section of bicycle trail, a street or neighborhood. Scouting once every three weeks and eliminating any plants before they drop new seeds will steadily reduce and eventually eliminate the infestation.
GoatheadWarriors.org works cooperatively with a local government agencies and maintenance teams, including: The City of Wenatchee, The City of East Wenatchee, Eastmont Parks, Washington State Parks, The Washington State Department of Transportation, Chelan County PUD, The Chelan-Douglas Transportation Council and the Chelan County Noxious Weeds Board.
